Fabelhaft Registered Maine Coons

About the Breed

The Maine Coon

Intelligent, beautiful, large — and often compared to the wild Lynx.

While we believe every cat is pretty special (and we have some moggy companions to prove it), the Maine Coon breed is truly majestic: intelligent, beautiful, and large, these cats have confidence, size, and playful dispositions.

As we produce very limited, healthy kittens, we are looking for ideal placements, not sales. We spend thousands on each litter, and expect for our families to be able to afford and look after these babies for their lifetime. Owning these special cats is a privilege and we hope to find the best placements possible.

We fondly refer to our babies as ‘cogs’, as they are so similar to dogs, in terms of their abilities and behaviour.

Every coat colour, eye colour — and yes, even the number of toes they have naturally — is stunning. Easily trained, loyal, independent, and often compared to the wild Lynx, they’re like chips — you can’t just have one!

Our companion

Coco Puff

Our little puff is in every kitten we place.

Companion cats are important for breeders who care about the kittens and — in particular — the males in a breeding program, to ensure they have the connection and socialization critical in well-adjusted cats.

Enter, stage left, Coco Puff, a young female stray that ‘adopted me’ from the moment I landed in Costa Rica for an extended stay in Playas del Coco. On my first day, I picked up groceries, and I believe she ate more of the protein than I did in the first two days!

I was told that she was a community cat — fed by people in the area, and that she was not in distress but did not have a consistent source of veterinary, social or basic reliable food and water.

She was instantly mine.

I contacted a local vet to check her out, provide needed vaccines and tests, and spay her before making the decision to bring her home with me. I had to go back to the country to pick her up, but her love and devotion was worth ten times the investment. This cat is a joyful, loving and happy aunt to all the kittens and cats we keep. Our little puff is in every kitten we place, and she is proud to be part of the Fabelhaft story.
